DVR brought to cell phones
TiVo, the digital video recorder specialist has brought its technology to cell phones. TiVo has hooked up with Verizon Wireless to offer a service that will allow subscribers to program their television recordings through their cell phones.
This is part of TiVo's strategy to bring Digital Video Recorder technology to cell phones in the same way it has managed to hook up its DVRs with iPods, playstation portables and PCs. The new service has been dubbed TiVo Mobile and although the details of the deal were not yet disclosed, TiVo has said that Verizon Wireless will be the first cellular carrier to offer the service.
This does not mean however that other cell phone users are unable to program their digital video recorder(DVR) through their cell phone as any web enabled phone can access the Tivo Mobile services at TiVo's website which offer DVR programming online. However this service has provided a further step in allowing people to manage their TV life by integrating more technologies together.
The Tivo Mobile service should launch early this summer in the USA.
