Pace Low Cost DVR

Pace Micro Technology Americas has launched a new low cost DVR. The low cost DVR is an all digital standard definition recorder (SD DVR) aimed at U.S cable operators and is based on Motorola's conditional access system.
Pace claims that the new box is "future proof" by transforming it into a low cost DVR. Pace said the dual-tuner Vegas was "a perfect complement for multiple system operators (MSOs) who are looking for a low-cost DVR solution in an all-digital network".
The low-cost DVR is called the Vegas TDC575 SD-DVR and is a dual-tuner. The low cost DVR was designed with large-scale deployments in mind so operators can quickly and easily deploy this set-top box to consumers.
Current DVRs are capable of decoding both analog and digital signals. This is important while cable networks are still transmitting the same television programs both in analog and digital. However cable companies are phasing out the use of analog systems and will soon move to a complete digital network. Pace has used this fact to produce their low cost DVR by omitting an analog TV tuner making it SD and not HD.
Pace has refused to comment on what price the low cost DVR will hit the market. A Pace representative did say however that it will be at least $100 cheaper that the standard HD DVR.
