MovieBeam Review

Different from a regular DVR the new MovieBeam service allows you to have your own video on demand movie player in your own home. What you have always experienced when in hotels can now be in your own home. Here we have conducted our own MovieBeam review:

Features include:
- Up to ten new movies downloaded each week and automatically replace the old ones so that your movie choices are up to date.
- Easy to use search interface to search for movies by title, actor, director, genre or rating.
- Option to rent the latest movies.
- Parental Controls
- Play, pause, fast forward and rewind controls
- Movie trailers, synopsis, and previews available before you choose your movie from MovieBeam.
- Preloaded with 100 movies.

The MovieBeam Player:
- Sleek looking set top Box
- Indoor antenna
- Remote Control
- 160GB Hard drive to store movies
- 200MHZ CPU
- Ethernet and USB 2.0 ports
- Video connection ports including HDMI, component, S-video and composite
- Audio connection options include digital coaxial, SP/DIF, HDMI and left/right stereo audio.

The price of the MovieBeam Player is $199.99 after an introductory discount. The 100 preloaded movies cover multiple genres with some new and some older classics. Ten movies are downloaded weekly direct to the MovieBeam player via the airwaves. These new movies replace old movies and the MovieBeam player constantly keeps one hundred updated movies ready for viewing.

Other costs for MovieBeam include:
- $29.99 activation fee
- $3.99 for additional on demand movies - new releases
- $1.99 for additional on demand movies - older titles

Other MovieBeam Reviews have stated concerns over the quality of the MovieBeam player. Concern over the movies being too compressed and thus compromising quality has been reported by some users. In the digital age with quality being paramount a new home entertainment that sacrifices quality may not be the desirable option.

Another MovieBeam review point is that there is a lack of movies from certain publishers. For example there are no movies from Sony available which many users will find frustrating.

From this MovieBeam review I’m sure you can conclude the same as we did here at AllDVRNews. What originally looked like a very promising prospect to have an almost automated and updated movie selection in your own home was let down by poor quality and a lack of choice.
