DVR recording by only 24%

A recent study by Total TV Audience Monitor found that only one quarter (24%) of DVR owners actually record shows to watch them later in an average week. With DVR recording being the main feature of a DVR it is quite surprising that the viewing of time shifted programs is so low.
Overall the actual amount of viewing of recorded shows is only 6%. This is particularly low considering the primary feature of a DVR is to record shows. After all it is called a digital video recorder.
Other interesting facts are that DVR owners watch 2 more hours of TV than non DVR owners and those that watch time shifted content watch the most TV overall with an average of 30 hours per week. Sports and news were the least likely to be recorded by DVRs and Daily soaps were the most common DVR recordings for women consisting of 26%.
