CCTV DVR Recording Troubleshooting Fix

Tuesday, May 02, 2006

If your DVR used for CCTV is failing to record then we have compiled a DVR Recording troubleshooting guide to help you fix the error. Follow the CCTV DVR troubleshooting guide through to see if you can locate and fix the CCTV DVR recording problem.

Check the Following:
1. Is the CCTV camera on and functioning and can it produce an image on the TV Screen. Is there enough light for the camera to film.
2. Is the DVR recorder on and working normally, are all cables connected.

If the route of the problem can not be identified from the above then you will need to look closer at the DVR to troubleshoot.

1. If the DVR was set on a timer was the DVR scheduled to record at the correct time, can you reschedule the DVR and will it now start recording?
2. If the DVR was set to record when an alarm was alerted then check to see that the alarm input settings are setup correctly and that the alarm itself is functioning correctly and was actually activated during the time you expected the DVR to record.
3. If the DVR was set to record upon motion then check to see if the motion sensors in the camera were set up correctly and that the motion settings on the camera and the DVR were set correctly. There are a number of settings to be checked such as the amount of scene change, sensitivity and masking blocks. If these are not configured correctly and the triggers not exceeded then DVR recording will not be triggered.
