Time Warner Suing Cablevision's Remote DVR Service

Thursday, June 01, 2006

Time Warner have joined in to Sue Cablevision over their new Remote DVR Service. It is not strange for a production studio such as Time Warner to join the likes of Disney in suing Cablevision. However it was actually Time Warner who first tried to implement a remote DVR service which they called Mystero but came across heated legal pressure and decided to abandon the idea.

Now that a different company has decided to try a remote DVR service Time Warner seem to have changed their opinions and are now on the same side as the original production studios that were previously filing lawsuits against them. Time Warner now argues that Cablevision would compromise current broadcast agreements.

Currently 1000 Cablevision households are trialing the remote DVR service but the future of the service is dependant on the lawsuits filed by the production studios.
