Showtime Arabia, the leading pay-TV network in the Middle East (provides 50 channels of mainly international content) announced the introduction of a new decoder: the ShowBox DVR. This latest generation of decoder will offer the viewers the total control of the content, allowing subscribers to watch what they want when they want.
The ShowBox DVR is the first DVR service in the Middle East. The ShowBox DVR has an integrated 80 GB hard drive, allowing to record about 40 hours of favorite shows and movies. ShowBox DVR has on screen TV guide with simple and very easy to use user interface. The new addition to the ShowBox DVR is a much requested future: the ability to record one channel while viewing another. Also the ShowBox DVR is capable of dual viewing. Dual viewing means that the subscribers will be able to watch 2 different shows on two different television sets and at the same time record the third on the hard drive.
The Electronic Program Guide (EPG) allows to shedule the recordings of the favorite programs in advance. The storage capacity of the 80 GB hard drive is up to 40 hours, depending on the quality of transmission. For the moment is not possible to upgrade the hard disc and incrase the recording time. The ShowBox DVR allows to pause live TV up to 2 hours, also to rewind and fast forward.
