AppleVision | An Apple DVR Could be on the Cards
All DVR News recently discussed the
speculation of an Apple DVR. One of the reasons that an Apple DVR might not become a reality is that Apple would be allowing people to download and store content for free which would put them in direct competition with themselves since they are the number one seller of online video.
However a recent
article from InformationWeek discusses the possibility of an Apple DVR still being on the cards. Josh Bernoff, an analyst from Forrester research predicts that Apple will release an Apple DVR which he has named “AppleVision”.
“AppleVision” would be an IP/Video set top box that would bring the internet and online video downloads directly to the TV. This would be like a far more advanced version of the new
TiVoCast service and would be very well suited to Apple’s current business model for selling online video content. Josh Bernoff believes that this sort of device would have full DVR capabilities which would see Apple bringing another living room media center to the table.
However nothing about an Apple DVR has been heard from Apple themselves and so the prospect of an “AppleVision” digital video recorder is still just hearsay until we here something more solid.
